So lets just keep aside the fact that its just a tv series that you just watched to kill time or to see some teenage drama; because, its not talking about monsters taking on a city, or kings fighting each other or smart ppl solving mysteries. It deals with things more relatable like bullying, ragging, rape, depression, suicide, LGBTQ, School shooting. Something that have decorated headlines recently nationally and internationally. Considering the popularity of the show all i expect people to do is “START TALKING” about things…. because conversations can solve problems.
To all the people out there keeping their distance from words like SEX, MASTERBATION, RAPE, VAGINA, PENIS, GAY, LEABIAN, PERIODS, SANITARY PADS, and what not, to avoid an awkward moment, are actually keeping themselves away from reality. The fact is using these words is just a beginning on being comfortable with a teenagers. So use these words…
There’s a a question repeatedly addressed in the series that why do children keep secrets from their parents? I would say why not? What we forget here is the fact that conversation is a two way process & and can be started from either sides. What if i ask you why don’t parents share everything with their kids? How many times have you seen a father coming and telling his kid that, how much of an asshole his boss is… Or a mother telling her kids that she is having mood swings because of her menopause or both the parents explaining why they had a fight yesterday night and how sorry they are about it… Or how tough it is for them to stop smoking or drinking or how mundane their life seems because of the boring job they are doing or the routine they are stuck in. Everyone has problems. People don’t share things because they don’t think others would understand and ya maybe they won’t but trying is always worth it, better than doing nothing. So start a conversation…
For the people who say that Hannah was wrong or Tyler was right or Justin could have done something. Nobody is perfect here everyone has flaws in various ways and in different volumes. The series never tried to glorify any character or any act that they did. What they showed was reality in the best ways possible. Only when you accept that something is wrong there would be room for changes to happen, changes that would bring positive difference to lives.
At the end all i wanna say is, this is the life that you have, each passing moment that you are experiencing is the time that you own, you owe nothing to the past and you don’t know what the future holds. The place that you live in has the people that you can love. The smallest of a kind gesture can make a big difference to a person. You can’t totally figure out a person because you aren’t in their shoes and nobody can totally understand you too, but keep trying it will make a difference. Start conversations, share things, ask somebody how they’re doing today and mean it. Ask or reach out for help if you need it… Give it a chance, you won’t regret it. Lastly be there for each other, otherwise what’s the point of your existence.
This is something that i share with my sister and I’ll share it with you, whenever you don’t see light at the end of the tunnel just say this to yourself “its just a phase, this too shall pass” SUICIDE IS NEVER AN OPTION
