Sushant Singh Rajput Starrer Sonchiriya Box Office Collection in Weekend

Sushant Singh Rajput‘s latest action drama film ‘Sonchiriya‘ stood decent on it’s Box office performance. Releases this Friday along side Kartik Aaryan’s Luka Chuppi, the film is running in less than 1000 screens across India. The Abhishek Chaubey directorial also stars Bhumi Pednekar in lead role opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. Film ‘Sonchiriya’ produced by Ronnie Screwvala under RSVP Movies. Starting off it’s first weekend, Sushant Singh Rajput’s Sonchiriya could only earn Rs 1.20, as per Taran Adarsh reports. The popular film critic and biz analyst called the film’s opening as “low numbers”. In a tweet, he said:

“Sonchiriya opens to low numbers, since the screen count [720 screens]/shows are limited and also because it caters to a niche audience.”

A lot of Sonchiriya Box Office Collection will depend on the Day 2 and Day 3 performance. Last week, the film premiered at the Mumbai Film Festival on 27 February. Popular media houses and film critics word of mouth shows a positive sign for the film. Subhash K Jha gave 5/5 stars and called the film as “Raw, Gritty And Compelling“. Furthermore, Mumbai Mirror reviewed the film with 3/5 stars and said, “Keeps You Glued To The Screen.” Jagran.com, on the other hand also gave 3.5/5 stars and said, “Witness The Ruthless World of Chambal“.

Firstpost, on their Sonchiriya film review, gave 4/5 stars and said,

“Solid Performances With Impressive Cinematography.”

Therefore, with all these media reviews and reactions we can conclude and say that Sonchiriya is a worth watching film. However, the film also caters to a ‘specific category of audience’ and, hence, may not be a fruitful experience for all. Let’s see Sonchiriya Box Office Collection at the end of this week, until Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Badla‘ strikes cinemas.
